Are the Tutors Qualified?

Only 1 in 10 tutors who apply to RMT eventually make it to the tutor list to ensure that you get the best quality math tutors available. All tutors have to provide their qualifications as part of our verification process, which includes a personal interview with one of our administrators.

Secondly, all tutors must have the following qualifications to teach at RMT:

1. A college diploma in math, economics, physics, or equivalent STEM major.
2. At least three years of tutoring experience.
3. At least one year of online tutoring experience.
4. English level C1 (IELTS 6.5) or better.

Finally, the top tutors will usually prepare a video introduction so that you can learn more about their offerings. Besides general qualifications, we also train our tutors in the Russian Math Curriculum and Russian Math Methods. Tutors who have taught more than 500 lessons and achieved a perfect 5-star review rating will be designated by the "Top Tutor" badge.

The rigorous vetting process includes document verification where applicants must submit their diplomas, transcripts, and teaching certificates for authenticity checking. The personal interview conducted by our administrators assesses not only subject matter expertise but also teaching methodology, communication skills, patience, and cultural fit with the platform's educational philosophy. Interviewers typically ask candidates to explain complex mathematical concepts, demonstrate problem-solving approaches, and discuss their experience with different age groups and learning styles. This comprehensive evaluation ensures that accepted tutors can effectively communicate sophisticated mathematical ideas to students ranging from elementary through high school levels.

After acceptance, new tutors complete platform-specific training covering the Russian math methodology, which emphasizes logical thinking, problem-solving strategies, and conceptual understanding over rote memorization. This training familiarizes teachers with the BYOM curriculum materials and teaching techniques specific to Russian mathematical pedagogy. The platform continuously monitors tutor performance through student reviews, completion rates, and responsiveness metrics. Tutors maintaining high standards earn recognition badges like "Top Tutor" and "RMT Choice," which increase their visibility in student searches and help families identify the most accomplished educators. This ongoing quality assurance system ensures that RMT maintains teaching excellence across its entire tutor network.
