The Build Your Own Math (BYOM) program curriculum is designed to provide a complete year of structured math instruction. The number of lessons varies by grade level, with most grades containing approximately 100 comprehensive lessons.
Lesson Count by Grade
Each grade level curriculum includes between 90 and 110 lessons, carefully structured to cover all key mathematical concepts for that grade. This thoughtful design ensures thorough coverage of topics while maintaining an achievable pace throughout the school year.
Recommended Schedule
The curriculum fits perfectly into a full academic year when students attend classes 2-3 times per week. At this pace, you'll complete the entire curriculum with time for review and additional practice on challenging topics. Some families prefer a faster pace during summer, while others spread lessons over an extended period.
Flexibility
One of the advantages of the BYOM program is its flexibility. You're not locked into a rigid schedule. If your student needs more time on certain concepts, you can slow down. If they're excelling, you can progress more quickly through easier material. The structured curriculum provides the framework while allowing customization to your student's needs.
Accessing the Curriculum
All BYOM lessons are available through your student dashboard. You can view upcoming lessons, track progress, and access accompanying workbooks and materials. Teachers following the BYOM curriculum will guide students through lessons in order, though they can adapt based on individual student performance.
Planning Your Year
With approximately 100 lessons per grade, you can plan for roughly 30-35 weeks of instruction at 3 lessons per week, or 40-50 weeks at 2 lessons per week. This leaves room for holidays, review sessions, and assessment periods throughout the year.
