“Shabnam is absolutely wonderful! She’s a very smart teacher who is consistently friendly and patient with my 11-year-old and 8-year-old even when they’re not in the best of their learning moods. She explains concepts very well in different ways if needed and has wonderful positive energy overall.”

“Shabnam has been teaching my 8 year old daughter online for over a year now, and we couldn’t be happier. She is very intelligent and has an amazing way of explaining math concepts in a way that little kids truly understand. She keeps the classes engaging and fun, and my daughter actually looks forward to her math lessons.”

— Parent of 8-year-old (coached by Shabnam S.)

“Lilit Khiat is the best math tutor we have worked with. She easily found a way to engage with our son and connect with him to make him feel comfortable. She’s encouraging and makes math accessible to him, actually improving his participation and his drive for wanting to learn more.”

— Parent of younger student (coached by Lilit K.)

“Meiram is an outstanding math teacher. He’s patient, thorough, and takes the time to ensure his students truly understand the concepts. He has been an incredible support for all three of my children — ages 8, 13, and 15 — and each of them has significantly improved their math skills.”

Why Our MOEMS Coaching Wins

  • Coaches calibrated to MOEMS Division E (grades 4-6) and Division M (grades 7-8) — not a one-size-fits-all curriculum
  • Russian Math methodology: the logic, casework, and clever-counting skills MOEMS problems are built around — not formula memorization
  • Real past MOEMS contests on our platform — 5 problems, 30 minutes, exactly the contest format students will see in November through March
  • Walks through the misses, not just the wins: coaches break each problem into smaller insights so the same trick doesn’t catch your child the next contest
  • Specialists who connect with younger learners — reviews from parents of 8-year-olds praise our coaches’ patience and engagement, not just their knowledge
  • A natural on-ramp to AMC 8 — MOEMS-style problem-solving is exactly the foundation that pays off on AMC 8 and beyond

Live Video. Real Whiteboard. No Typing.

Most online MOEMS programs are group sessions with typed chat — slow, clunky, and disconnected. We use 1-on-1 live video with an interactive whiteboard:

  • →See your tutor explain problems in real time
  • →Draw geometry, write equations, sketch your thinking
  • →Ask questions immediately — no chat lag
  • →Watch your coach walk through MOEMS problems step by step

About MOEMS

What is MOEMS?

The Math Olympiads for Elementary and Middle Schools is a U.S. problem-solving competition founded by George Lenchner in 1979. Students compete in one of two divisions: Division E (grades 4-6) or Division M (grades 6-8).

Unlike single-day contests, MOEMS runs as a five-contest series across the school year — one contest per month from November through March. Each contest is 5 problems in 30 minutes. Students compete through their school’s MOEMS team; top performers nationally earn certificates, patches, medals, and trophies.

Why it matters

MOEMS rewards creative problem-solving and persistence, not arithmetic speed. Problems are designed to be solvable with elementary tools but require a clever insight — the kind of thinking that strong AMC 8 students need years later.

For families building a competition pathway, MOEMS is one of the best on-ramps to AMC 8. The five-contests-per-year format means students see how their problem-solving improves session by session, instead of pinning everything on a single test day.

What good MOEMS prep looks like

The Russian Math methodology fits MOEMS naturally: logic, casework, invariants, and clever counting. A typical MOEMS problem asks a student to reason about why a pattern holds, not to memorize a formula. Drill won’t crack it; understanding will.

Sessions use real past MOEMS contests — 5 problems, 30 minutes, exactly the contest format. Coaches walk through the misses in detail so the same trick doesn’t catch the student in the next contest. As the season progresses, students see their score climb across the five contests rather than peak on test day alone.

Next MOEMS Season

Five contests: November 2026 – March 2027

★★★★★

“My child has been having class with Meiram. He's extremely patient. He focuses on the thinking process a lot. After a few classes I can see a change in how my child approaches problems. She doesn't give up easily and believes that she can solve the problems on her own.”
