“My son has been working with Alina on calculus and SAT prep for the past couple of months. Recently, he told me he couldn't put into words how happy he is to have lessons with her. Coming from a 17 year old boy, I found this quite profound. Alina has my highest recommendation, and we are so grateful to have found her..”

— RMT parent (tutor: Alina K.)

“Shabnam was an amazing tutor. My daughter really enjoyed her lesson. We will work with her again.”

— RMT parent (tutor: Shabnam S.)

“My son really enjoyed his lesson with Ashyrgeldi Atayev. Ashyrgeldi Atayev explained the problems clearly, guided him through each step, and encouraged him to think and participate instead of just listening. He was patient and engaging. We had a very positive experience and have already scheduled more lessons.”

Why Our SAT Math Tutoring Works

  • 1-on-1 Socratic-method tutoring — students learn the underlying math — then apply it to real SAT questions under time pressure
  • Score-targeted prep — diagnostic first, then a plan focused on the specific question types where you’re losing points
  • Online or in-person — 1-on-1 online, in-person at our San Jose center, or in-home with selected tutors

Live Video. Real Whiteboard. No Typing.

Most online SAT Math programs are group sessions with typed chat — slow, clunky, and disconnected. We use 1-on-1 live video with an interactive whiteboard:

  • →See your tutor explain problems in real time
  • →Walk through real SAT problems step by step
  • →Ask questions immediately — no chat lag
  • →Watch BYOM-trained tutors explain the math behind every question type

SAT Math Prep — 4 Phases to Your Target Score

Our SAT Math prep is a four-phase program tuned to the digital SAT’s Math section. Every student starts with a full diagnostic, then your tutor builds a plan targeting the specific question types where you’re losing points.

The digital SAT Math tests four content areas: Algebra, Advanced Math, Problem-Solving & Data Analysis, and Geometry & Trigonometry. We cover all four with real College Board material and adapt the pacing to your test date and target score.

Phase 1 · Diagnostic & Foundations

  • Unit 1 · Full-Length Diagnostic + Score Analysis (4 lessons)

Take a timed official SAT practice test. Review every missed and guessed question. Identify weak content areas and question-type patterns. Build a personalized target-score plan.

  • Unit 2 · Algebra Fundamentals (10 lessons)

Linear equations in one and two variables. Systems of linear equations. Linear inequalities. Linear functions. Interpreting slope and y-intercept in context.

Phase 2 · Algebra & Problem-Solving

  • Unit 3 · Advanced Math (12 lessons)

Quadratics in context. Nonlinear functions and their graphs. Equivalent expressions. Polynomial and rational expressions. Exponential growth and decay.

  • Unit 4 · Problem-Solving & Data Analysis (10 lessons)

Ratios, rates, and proportional relationships. Percentages. Units and unit conversion. One-variable data: distributions and measures of center. Two-variable data: scatterplots and models.

Phase 3 · Advanced Math & Geometry

  • Unit 5 · Geometry & Trigonometry (10 lessons)

Area and volume formulas. Lines, angles, and triangles. Right triangles and trigonometry. Circles: area, circumference, arcs. Coordinate geometry.

  • Unit 6 · Probability, Inference, Statistics (8 lessons)

Probability and conditional probability. Statistical claims and experimental design. Evaluating statistical claims. Observational studies vs experiments. Margin of error.

Phase 4 · Timing & Full-Length Practice

  • Unit 7 · Pacing & Test-Taking Strategy (6 lessons)

Pacing for the digital SAT module structure. Desmos graphing calculator fluency. Elimination strategies. When to skip and return. Managing anxiety and endurance.

  • Unit 8 · Full-Length Practice Tests & Review (8 lessons)

Full-length timed practice tests with Bluebook (official digital SAT platform). Section-by-section review. Targeted error analysis. Final score projection and test-day prep.

Official SAT Content Areas

Content weights follow the College Board digital SAT Math specifications:

  • Algebra — ~35% of the Math section
  • Advanced Math — ~35%
  • Problem-Solving and Data Analysis — ~15%
  • Geometry and Trigonometry — ~15%

Your tutor will prioritize content areas based on your diagnostic and your target score. A typical prep program runs 8–12 weeks at 2 lessons per week; intensive 4-week crunches are also possible.

About RMT SAT Math Prep

What it is

SAT Math prep is a score-targeted, diagnostic-first program. Every student starts with a full-length official SAT practice test; your tutor reviews every missed and guessed question before building a personalized plan.

We cover all four digital SAT content areas: Algebra, Advanced Math, Problem-Solving & Data Analysis, and Geometry & Trigonometry — with emphasis on the specific question types where your student is losing points.

Why RMT for SAT Math

Most SAT prep services teach tricks for passing the test. We teach the math behind the tricks — so students answer questions correctly the first time, without relying on elimination or guessing.

Our tutors come from the BYOM Russian-math tradition, which has produced olympiad winners for generations. That depth of content knowledge pays off on hard SAT questions where a deeper understanding of algebra and functions beats any shortcut.

How lessons work

Sessions are 1-on-1 or small-group (2–4 students) over live video with an interactive whiteboard — so your tutor can walk through SAT problems step by step and see where your student’s reasoning is breaking down. Prefer in person? Families in the South Bay can join in-person classes at our San Jose Bernal Road center, and selected tutors across the country also offer in-home sessions at their own locations — check each tutor’s profile for availability.

Standard pacing is 2 lessons per week for 8–12 weeks leading up to the test date. Intensive 4-week programs (4 lessons/week) are available for students closer to the exam.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long should SAT Math prep take?

A standard program is 8–12 weeks at 2 lessons per week — enough time to diagnose, address weak areas, and run multiple full-length practice tests. Students closer to the exam often do intensive 4-week programs at 4 lessons/week.

How much can a student improve?

It depends on starting score and effort. A student starting in the 500s who completes a full 10-week program with weekly homework typically gains 80–120 points. Students with stronger foundations see smaller but still meaningful gains.

Do you use real College Board material?

Yes. Diagnostics and full-length practice tests are drawn from official College Board sources (including Bluebook, the digital SAT platform). We supplement with additional problems only where extra drilling is needed.

“My child has been having class with Meiram. He's extremely patient. He focuses on the thinking process a lot. After a few classes I can see a change in how my child approaches problems. She doesn't give up easily and believes that she can solve the problems on her own.”

“Shabnam is absolutely wonderful! She's a very smart teacher who is consistently friendly and patient with my 11-year-old and 8-year-old even when they're not in the best of their learning moods. She explains concepts very well in different ways if needed, articulates very well, and has wonderful positive energy overall. We highly, highly recommend her!”

“Lilit Khiat is the best math tutor we have worked with. She easily found a way to engage with our son and connect with him to make him feel comfortable. She's encouraging and makes math accessible to him, actually improving his participation and his drive for wanting to learn more. He's always happier and feels better after coming out of a lesson and is getting more and more confident with math. I would highly recommend working with her.”
